At the MyPlace Café, we don’t want our displays to run non-stop. Our opening hours are:
• Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm
• Saturday, 10am to 7pm
• Sunday, 12 noon to 5pm
We’d like the Displays to switch off during these times.
Creating Open and Close Time Rules
To do so, we go to our Site settings by clicking on the Sites menu and then choosing the MyPlace Café:
By default the site is open all day and night. We click ‘Change it to closed’ to set the default to ‘Closed’.
Now we click ‘Add a rule’:
We enter our Monday to Friday times and click ‘Create’. The new rule is added and the Display will now switch on at 8am and switch off again at 6pm.
We add two more rules for Saturdays and Sundays:
Overriding the Rules
On the 1st August we close the café (it’s our birthday). So we want to override the default rules for this time. To do so, we just add another rule to the list:
Later rules override previous ones, and you can add as many rules as you want.
Display Overrides
Our Landscape screen hangs in the window facing onto the street. We’d like this to run on Sunday mornings before the café opens. We can override the Site’s Open and Close times on a per-Display basis. We click on the Displays menu and select our Portrait Display:
We’ll add a new rule to override the Site’s rules:
We can see that the Display gets all of its Site’s rules plus its own custom rule.
